Cover Letter

I hadn’t even graduated high school before giving myself the daunting task of contacting Emmy Award-winning broadcasting veteran, Jason Jackson, asking to shadow him during a Miami Heat playoff game. To my surprise, I would soon become a HEATv studio regular. This experience marked the beginning of my love for broadcasting and production.

Today, as a recent graduate, I often wonder how my love for the many facets of entertainment led me away from broadcasting. Perhaps it was my academic advisors urging that it would be beneficial to focus on one field. But I loved music too much. I knew sports better than most men. I binge-watched the hottest shows on television. I loved pop culture. I wanted to talk about it all. But what media platform would allow me to create content based on what I’m truly passionate about? What platform could foster a professional creative space for someone who not only has cultivated a social media following, but has also established rapport with the very people that would be talked about. Enter: Complex.

I’m particularly drawn to a dynamic outlet like Complex.com because of its influence on youth culture. From acquiring over five years of experience in public relations and social media communications, to being a tour operations assistant for a major recording artist, I have worn many hats in my career that have afforded me the tools required to perform as an anchor/editorial producer with excellence. Possessing strong writing skills as well as the ability to edit and properly format various content, I will contribute to the talented editorial team at Complex.com immediately upon arrival.
